Overview

Capacity building includes activities that strengthen a nonprofit’s ability to achieve its mission, such as strategic planning, program evaluation, operational improvements, grant writing, board and leadership development, and financial management. These efforts help organizations become more focused, efficient, and productive, ultimately improving their operations and program impact. The St. Louis Philanthropic Organization launched an annual capacity-building workshop series in 2020 offering free training to help nonprofits enhance their organizational performance. In December, grantwriting training is provided to strengthen agencies' fund development skills and prepare them for submitting the SLPO Responsive Grant. The Spring workshop focuses on other essential capabilities for long-term sustainability.
